Keeper Clinic Overview.

Our first NKYA Goal Keeper Clinic is this coming Saturday at 3:30 PM.  I think we are just about at capacity but if you are interested contact me and we'll see if we can work you in.  I expect to have at least two of our Coaches who have keeper experience helping to lead the kids.  We will also have a couple of local High School keepers on hand to demonstrate proper technique.  At the start of the clinic we will separate out the kids who need the most basic instruction, mostly U6 players, from the more experienced players who are ready to work on sharpening their skills.  The clinic agenda will be something like this:

Basic Instruction
-where the Keeper plays and what the Keeper's job is.
-basics of good posture and positioning for Keepers.
-basics of handling the ball.
-basics of distributing the ball (throws and kicks)

Intermediate Instruction
-warm-up routines.
-drills for sharpening ball handling skills
-distribution techniques.  How and when to make good throws or punts.
-goal kick technique.

The overall goal for the clinic is to give the kids a handful of drills that they can learn and then take with them to use at home or in pre-game warm-ups to be constantly honing their skills.

I look forward to seeing you there.
