Saturday was the end of our Fall Outdoor session. We got lucky with the weather and had a simply gorgeous day. It was great to see so many good games going on and hearing the spectators cheering their teams on. I saw a lot of great, well played and intense games. Great competition. It's wonderful to see kids so committed and putting their hearts into the game. Then at the end of each game the kids were gracious and respectful to their competitors and that is something wonderful to see too.
My congratulations to Coach Moreno and his Red Dragons on their win in the U8 division tournament. Coach Grubenhoff's Sharks gave them a great game, especially with a beautiful early goal in the first quarter. While in the end the persistence and speed of the Dragon's attack won out the Sharks never backed down and played tough defense right to the end. Both teams and both sets of parents should be proud. That was a great game.
Coach Schawe's team managed the win in the U11 Championship game versus Coach Wesling's side. The two teams played absolutely all out in a tough match that also had a lot of really graceful and skillful play. I think that one could have gone either way right up until the last couple of minutes with neither team relenting in their pace or intensity. Well played, both teams. Thanks for the great game. It was a joy to watch.
I want to thank, again, all of our wonderful volunteer Coaches for all of their hard work and for doing so much to help their players take advantage of the practice opportunities we get in the outdoor session. I also want to thank the NKYA volunteers who made the session possible through their hard work every week. Hopefully everyone is planning to sign up for our Fall indoor session at Midwest Sports. It will be a blast. See you there.
