NKYA Moving to Midwest Sports Complex

NKYA Members,

I am very happy to announce that NKYA has found a new home for our indoor sports programs.  Beginning with the Fall session, NKYA will host our Soccer, Basketball and Cheer programs at the Midwest Sports complex in Florence on KY 18 near Boone Co. High School.   Registration for the Fall Basketball and Soccer programs is now open!

You will be able to register on-line later this week and we will be taking registrations in person at the concession stand at our Soccer games at Richardson Road Park this weekend.   If you like, you can also register in person at Midwest and take a tour of the facility while you are there.  I think that if you do tour the place you will like what you see.

This move to Midwest will require NKYA to make a slight increase in the registration fee for Soccer.  Registration for that program will now be $80 for an eight week session which will now include beginning-of-session clinics in each age group.  The fee for Basketball will hold steady at $85 for an eight week session.  The Basketball program will continue to include weekly practice time for all teams.

Midwest Sports will be charging an entry fee for adults attending games.  The fee is $3 per adult.  That fee goes directly to Midwest and is not shared with NKYA.  I know that for some families the “door charge” at Pleasure Isle and other facilities has been a real annoyance but at this point we’ve got to accept it as the norm.  I do think that most people will feel that given the quality of the facility we are playing in the door fee will be money well spent.

I will be making another announcement shortly regarding an open house to be held at Midwest in the next few weeks.  The Management at Midwest would like all of our NKYA members to come in and take a tour of the facility, check out the field and courts and get a complimentary slice of pizza too!  Once the date for that has been settled I’ll get that out to everyone.

As always, if you have any questions or comments please contact me directly at
nkyacoachpat@gmail.com.

I’m excited about the move and I hope you all will be too.

Pat Michels
President, NKYA Board of Directors
