Some Safety Notes

In the interest of keeping everyone safe during the upcoming Fall soccer session I want to remind Coaches and Parents of an important NKYA guideline on lightning safety.
As the weather today reminds us, in the late Summer we can get pop-up thunderstorms with a lot of lightning. NKYA's official policy regarding inclement weather is that if we see lightning or hear thunder all activities must be suspended and everyone asked to take cover either in their cars or at the park shelter for no less than thirty minutes. This is not something we want to fool around with. Don't wait until a storm is actually on top of you to cancel your practice. If there is nothing but rain go ahead and play if you like but take lightning and thunder seriously. Most people who are struck by lightning are not in the rain when they are hit so don't wait till it's raining to head for shelter.
