Fall 2011 First Kick

Wow, did we get some good weather for our first week. It's so great to see the fields crowded with players and Coaches and families. Getting the league sessions organized is a lot of work for us at NKYA but I can tell you that when you get a Saturday morning like this with fabulous weather and the kids having a great time playing the beautiful game all the work is worth it. I love Saturday mornings.

I want to thank all of the Coaches for their dedication and especially those Coaches who are new volunteers with NKYA. You've all taken on a tough but rewarding challenge and I'm sure that by the end of your first session you'll feel hooked. I watched as much of the action as I could while still coaching my own teams and the level of play looked very good. Let me know if you have any suggestions or even complaints about the way the session is running.

I also have to thank my fellow NKYA Soccer Administrators for their dedication and work, showing up very early on a Saturday to get everything ready for the games. Specifically, thank you to: Tim Cahill, Dave Fangmeyer, Todd Kiehborth, Andrea Sipple, Lori Thomas and Melissa Wolz. Thanks also to Stacey Kiehborth for her help with uniforms and the concession stand.

As I said above, it is great to see the fields so crowded with players and spectators but I have to ask for everyone's cooperation with regard to what parts of the fields are for players and which are for spectators. The bench areas on the U6, U8 and U11 fields are reserved for players and Coaches. Parents and other spectators should sit on the side of the field opposite the benches. Please don't sit at the ends of the field behind the goals either. Players, Coaches and spectators all need to keep the touch lines of the field clear for the line referees so please don't place your chairs within three (3) yards of the field.

Let's take advantage of this run of good weather we're having and get in some good practices this week. See you all on the pitch.
