The Fall Indoor Session Begins Saturday

First Kick for the Fall indoor session is this Saturday morning.  If you have not heard from a Coach yet, let me know at nkyacoachpat@gmail.com.  Schedules for the session can be found in the window to the right.

Fall Kick-off!
Halloween 2012!
Parents and Spectators, please remember to be respectful of our Referees.  If you are relatively new to the game I want you to keep a few things in mind as you watch the games, especially in the U8 and U10 divisions.  Referees will call the games as closely as they can and will always be encouraged by NKYA to keep the intensity level of the games in control...this is rec soccer after all.  We want to see well contested but clean games, no free-for-alls or cage-matches.  One thing you will notice is that sometimes the Refs have trouble determining if a ball has or has not touched one of the surrounding nets.  Be patient in those situations.  They are trying to get it right.

You may also notice an occasional situation where an obvious foul or handball goes uncalled.  What you need to keep in mind is that sometimes a Ref will not stop play on such obvious infractions if it appears to them that the team that was fouled against actually gains some advantage from the ensuing bounce of the ball.  For instance, if your child gets tripped half-way to the other teams' goal but the ball comes loose right at the feet of one of your child's teammates and they have a clean shot at the goal...in that situation the referee might hold onto his whistle since the team that got fouled actually had a scoring advantage in the situation.  These calls can be difficult to make but, again, the Refs are trying to be fair so be patient and keep this principle of "advantage" in mind before criticizing.  And if you do feel the need to criticize, I'd appreciate some simple booing.  Last year we had some situations where parents began to feel free to engage the Refs in a running dialogue of shouts and complaints.  We won't be having that this year.  NKYA is a rec league and our goal is to teach kids the game and give them a chance to play it.  We aren't here to crown the U8 world champions so please don't get too caught up in the wins and losses.  Cheer for your team when they play well, but applaud the other team too when they do the same.

Thanks.  Have fun.  See you around the field.

NKYA Youth Soccer Administrator
