If you've already signed up for Winter I Soccer and you're wondering what to expect next here is a brief rundown:
-I will keep taking registrations through next weekend (and beyond, really). As the registrations build and I start to have a sense of the number of teams in each division I will begin creating rosters, first by assigning players to Coaches based on player requests.
-By the week after Christmas the rosters should be largely set at which point I will be able to create the game schedules. Then, with the rosters and schedules ready we will be able to hold our pre-session Coaches' meeting. That is scheduled for Jan. 2nd. Following that meeting Coaches will contact their teams to give them schedule information. I will also post the schedules here by then. Games begin on Jan. 7th.
I know some people might be reading this and thinking, gee, wouldn't it be better to cut registrations off sooner and get all this roster and schedule business sorted out a few weeks in advance of the session. The answer of course is yes, yes it would...if I had all the registrations in hand. As of today I have about 150 kids registered for Winter I. The current Fall session has over 290 kids registered and the Winter I session is usually our heaviest registration. I expect we'll end up with well over 350 kids. So I could make all of this easier on myself by saying, sorry, registrations are closed, I need to get the rosters ready...and then we'd have a lot of unhappy soccer players left out in the cold.
NKYA is an all volunteer organization that exists for the sole purpose of organizing recreational sports leagues. We try to be efficient but sometimes, in the interest of serving as many kids as possible, things get a bit chaotic and we have to go down to the last minute getting schedules made and shirts ordered. That's how it is. I appreciate your patience.
